Our rehabilitation specialists can provide training to promote safety and independence... in the home, in the office and in the community.

Independent Living Skills (ILS)

Patient Cooking, by David Reader Our Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialists train clients in areas such as safe cooking strategies, organizing techniques, and using adaptive equipment.

Our training is provided for clients in their own homes. During these sessions, rehabilitation specialists train you how to use your prescribed low vision devices, develop a workstation with proper lighting, teach money management, mark appliances and label medications. We also evaluate home safety and lighting during our home visits.

Orientation and Mobility Training

This training, given in individualized sessions, takes place in the client's community and teaches skills such as safe street crossings, negotiating stairs and curbs, utilizing public transportation, and familiarization to new environments. We can evaluate the appropriateness of using a cane.
